- “Gynecomastia: the choice of the appropriate surgical technique”. Tsoutsos D., Oikonomou Th., Papadopoulos S., Spyropoulou G.A., Panagiotou P., Ioannovich I., 23rd Panhellenic Congress of the Hellenic Society of General Surgery, Athens, Greece, 9-12/11/2002. This is a clinical study presenting the different causes that can lead to gynecomastia, preoperative examination, and various techniques for treating gynecomastia. Cases where the breasts have a fatty composition can be treated with liposuction, while cases where gynecomastia is due to hypertrophy of the mammary gland should be treated with surgical removal. The material must always be sent for histological examination, even liposuction material (in one case, from liposuction material, we found it was Mantelung’s disease).

- “Reconstruction of mandibular defects with a free fibula flap”. In the last year (2002-2003), we treated 5 patients with mandibular defects. The defects were of type LC in 3 patients and LCL in 2 according to Boyd. An osteocutaneous fibula flap was used in 3 patients, while a bone flap was used in the other 2. This is a study using digital angiography of anatomical variations of the vascular network at the level of the popliteal artery trifurcation and their incidence. 173 patients were studied using digital angiography of the abdominal aorta-iliac-lower limbs. Spyropoulou G.A., Lykoudis E., Karydas G., Plagou A., Orfanos A., Ioannovich I., 6th Panhellenic Congress of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery, Athens, Greece, 1-5 October 2003.

- “Psychological disorders in burn patients”. The demographic, psychopathological, and pathological data of burn patients who underwent psychiatric examination at the Plastic Surgery Clinic of the General State Hospital of Athens over the last five years (1998-2002) were retrospectively recorded. A total of 131 individuals were examined out of 3387 admissions. Spyropoulou G.A., Mylonaki Th., Lykoudis E., Christodoulou Ch., Alexandropoulos K., Ioannovich I., 6th Panhellenic Congress of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery, Athens, Greece, 1-5 October 2003.
- “Recording and management of fingertip injuries based on a protocol in outpatient clinics”. A new protocol for managing fingertip injuries based on the anatomical element involved and a corresponding treatment algorithm is proposed. Soft tissue defects up to 1cm2 were allowed to heal by secondary intention. In cases where exposed bone was present, either stump creation or coverage with a local or regional flap was performed.
